Optional Tuesday evening event: Commitment to Action

Meet Alex Garcia., a native of Honduras, profiled by New York magazine, who entered the United States illegally 16 years ago, found a home in Poplar Bluff, Mo., is now married and the father of five, and learn why he has spent the past year and a-half in the basement of a UCC church – and why his Trump-supporting county wants him back in his home town.

This event will offer participants encouragement to add their voices to call for permanent residence for Alex Garcia, for resolution of temporary protective status, and for justice for all immigrants.

We will be hosted by Christ Church in Maplewood, Mo., and enjoy dinner catered by women from Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. Event organized by Sara John of the Interfaith Committee on Latin America, and coordinated for the AUSCP by Sister Kate Reid, ASC, whose community was the first to grant sanctuary to Garcia.

Departure from Airport Marriott at ?? 6:00 p.m.?? Limited transportation available. Donation expected for evening meal.
